Very few people in life do what they set out to do when they
are young. The most young people are probably disillusioned in the first week of
work after leaving school. Working hard does not mean you will make lots of
money. Life is not fair. More often than not we never realize our dreams or
potential.
I've always known what I wanted to do with my life. I want to make movies
for a living. Unfortunately for me at this point I have a full time day job (that sucks), a
wife, a bond and a car payment. I will have to settle for making movies for fun. Making
millions and millions of dollars will obviously be welcome also.
My idea of a movie is and always was that it should be a
synergy of the components. The sum therefore must be greater than the parts
added together. For me a great movie is where I can close my eyes and the music
and dialogue alone takes me through the story.
Some movies lack a decent story line, while others lack good
actors. Some actually lack both. The bottom line is that you can make a great
movie with a good story and okay actors. Good + Okay = Great. A great movie
would not necessarily have any special effects nor dashing and larger than life
actors. But, a great movie always need a good story.
My dream for Hungry Cat Studios is to tell a good story with
every movie, to involve people who share the same passion for movies, but may
not have any experience.
The creation of a likeminded community and the pooling of
creative and financial resources for the benefit of the many. I want to make
money, sure, but not at the expense of producing great movies.
With Cape Town being seen as the Movie Capital of Africa, the
door is open for Hungry Cat Studios to make its mark.
